Adventures In Bridge Special Events

Friday games at 10:30 AM and 7:00 PM during September will be Hurricane
Katrina Charity games, benefiting the victims of the Hurricane. Masterpoint
Awards will be sectional-rated for those finishing in the overalls.
Donations to the American Red Cross will be accepted at each of these games.

On Wednesday, September 14th, we had 30 tables participate in the ACBL-Wide
Instant Matchpoint Game. Our Non-Life Master Game expanded to 3 sections (21
tables). Since 0.80 Gold Points were awarded for each section winner
(East/West & North/South for each of the three sections); we gave away 4.8
Gold Points for that game. All other awards were half red and half black
points. We want to congratulate all the winners. Our Masters Section
(Flights A & B) consisted of nine tables and we gave away 7.33 MP's to the
winners of that game (they get credit for the full 30 tables). The results

We will be holding a Silver Point STAC game on Wednesday, September 21st for
both the Non-Life Master Game and the Masters game. If you haven't
participated in our festivities on Wednesdays night, please come down and
join the fun!

Sunday, October 2nd is the San Diego Unit Game starting at 1:00 PM. We will
have a separate Non-Life Master section for all Non-Life Master Pairs.

We have Refresher Bridge Games on Monday nights at 7:00 PM and Tuesdays at
Noon. These games are restricted to those having no more than 49
Masterpoints. We have a half-hour lesson on a bridge convention, and then
play about 15 hands of bridge, where you may ask questions on bidding and
play. The ACBL celebrates our 49'ers during September. This month, these
49'er games will award extra Masterpoints for those in the overalls. 

All of our Non-Life Master games during the week of September 19th will be
Silver Point Award games. We are participating in the Los Angeles Sectional
Tournament at Clubs this week and are able to give Silver Point,
Sectional-Rated Awards for all those finishing in the overalls. If you need
Silver Points, here's a great way to earn them. Tues, Sept 20th & Thurs,
Sept 22nd & Sat, Sept 24th at 10:00 AM; & Wed night at 6:45 PM are our
Non-Life Master games.

In addition, the Friday night open stratified game, Sept 23rd at 7:00 PM
(our Social Bridge game) will participate in the LA STAC. Also, the Open
game on Wed, Sept 21st at 7:00 PM is a STAC game. These open, stratified
games are Strat A, 1500+; Strat B, Non-Life Master to 1500, and Strat C
restricted to Non-Life Masters with no more than 500 MP's.

Mondays at Noon is our Winners' Pairs game. The pair winning first overall
in the Open Game and the pair winning first overall in the Non-Life Master
Strat play free for the rest of the week at all club games.

Saturday, October 22nd at 6:30 is our monthly Awards/Birthday Party game.
The free dinner starts at 5:30 PM with game time at 6:30 PM. Those born in
October play for free! This month we have over 70 bridge players winning
awards. Please join us in helping to honor those awards winners. 

Our morning games are at 10:30 AM on Wednesdays and Fridays. On Fridays, we
serve brunch at 10:00 AM.

If you have friends that want to learn to play bridge, we have our beginning
bridge class starting on Wednesday night at 7:00 PM, Sept 21st. Please have
them come to the club on Wed and start to learn this wonderful game. Stacy
Reddan is our instructor for this beginning bridge series.

Maritha's Intermediate Class starts on Thursday, Sept 22 at 7:00 PM. The

As we start our fall mentor program, we are looking for Mentors who want to
participate in our education program on Monday nights. If you're interested
in participating, please call the club and sign-up. This is a pleasant way
to help a non-life master learn the finer points of this wonderful game.
