Adventures In Bridge Special Events

 

 

Our Monday night Pro-Am Games at 7:00 PM are doing very well. We still have
a need for Mentors, as we now have about 12 Newcomers looking for some
guidance from experienced players.  Teachers play for free and newcomers pay
$12. The Monday night game is also open to everyone.

 

Fridays at 7:00 PM is our Wine & Cheese Social Game. Please bring a potluck
dish, play some exciting bridge and meet a new friend, tonight!

 

Saturday, November 6th at Noon is a barometer game. 

            

Sunday, November 7th at 1:00 PM is the Unit North American Pairs Qualifying
game. 50% of the field qualifies to go to the District finals at the Anaheim
Regional the first week of February. Flight C is a two-session event (Gold
Points) starting at 1:00 PM. Flights A & B will be a separate one-session
event, starting at 1:00 also. The regular Unit Game is a separate,
one-session event starting at 1:00 PM. The twilight second session of Flight
C will start soon after the lite dinner is served. There will also be a
twilight Unit Game starting about 5:30 PM for those wishing to play in the
evening. Brunch is served to the afternoon players at 12:15 PM and a Lite
Dinner served at 4:30 for the twilight games. 

 

Evan Bailey and John Strauch won the Wed Evening Pairs game three times in a
row, so we now have the event named after them (until another pair wins
three times in a row). Bailey/Strauch Wednesday Pairs are fun nights as we
have a Flighted field. The Non-Life Masters play in a separate event
(averaging 16 tables) and the Flights A&B play in a separate section.
Everyone plays the same hands, and the Masterpoint Awards are huge because
each section gets credit for all the tables in play. Wednesday, Nov 10th at
6:45 PM, the Non-Life Masters will play a Stratified Pairs Barometer Game
(everyone plays the same hands at the same time). All the games that night
are Club Championships with extra MP's awarded.  (Our only other named event
is the Coufal Thursday Afternoon Pairs.)

 

Wednesday, November 10th at 10:30 AM is an Inter Club Championship. 

 

All day Thursday, November 11th is our Veteran's Day celebration. All games
will be a Club Championship to help us honor our military heroes that have
fought and are fighting for our Freedom.  

 

Friday, November 12th, 13th and 14th is the Coronado/Chula Vista Sectional
at our club. The Coronado/Chula Vista Unit has wonderful hospitality and
very congenial games. All the awards are silver points, so please plan on
attending this very fun sectional. There is extra parking available in the
Fuji Parking Lot behind the club. 

 

Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 25th at 1:00 PM will be a Club
Championship Pot Luck Thanksgiving Day game. Please bring a dish to share.
The club will serve Turkey and Ham. Take a break from your Holiday
activities to get an afternoon game of bridge and help celebrate the
Thanksgiving Day with your bridge playing friends!

 

Sunday, November 21st is San Diego Unit's Pilgrim Day celebration Unit Game.
Sunday, December 19th is San Diego Unit's Santa Claus Unit Game. Both games
start at 1:00 PM, with brunch at 12:15. At each game, there will be a
drawing for a FREE TURKEY, and of course, great bridge. Both games will have
a separate section for all 299er players.

 

December 6th through the 12th is STAC week and all games will award Silver
Points. We will have STAC games all week long.

 

Friday, December 31st is the Clubs New Year's Eve celebration. We will have
games at Noon and 6:30 PM, with a pot luck in between games. We will combine
the two games into a two-session event for all those wishing to play in both
sessions. Of course, there will be separate overall awards for each
session's winners as well as for the two-session game. All games that day
will be Club Championships!
