Hi Everyone,
Congratulations to Chip Splinter and John Burton who won the Stratified
299er Sat Pairs at the Big Bear Sectional this last weekend. Also, Debbie
and Alan Gailfus who won the Flight A Swiss Teams on Sunday at Big Bear. And
to the many others that placed and won masterpoints in Big Bear. The Big
Bear tournament was well attended by our players who won lots of silver
points. Click here to see more Big Bear

Results.
Next Wednesday evening, June 30th, our Masters game will be participating in
the Bill Hughes Simultaneous
<http://www.ecatsbridge.com/sims/info/billhughes.asp> Pairs. As well as
awarding the regular ACBL Masterpoints awards, we will also be awarding
English Bridge Union points, as this event is sponsored by this
organization. Many other bridge clubs in Europe, Africa and Asia will also
be playing the same hands that week and it will be interesting to compare
your results with theirs. Prizes and trophies will be awarded, as well as a
hand analysis for each hand written by England's, David Stevenson.
This past week we started using a scoring method, Arrow-Switching, with our
Mitchell movements to produce only one winner rather than have separate
North/South and East/West winners. We believe this greatly improves the game
and makes the competitions more fair, as everyone is compared to all the
players, not just the North/South's nor the East/West's. Basically, the
movement changes the table guide-markers the last two rounds (markers are
rotated 90 degrees counter-clockwise) so that the East-West pairs are
playing the North-South hands and the North-South pairs are playing the
East-West hands on the last two rounds. This provides all players a
comparison with one another. The overall winners receive a larger
Masterpoint award. Click here for more on

Sunday, July 4th is our annual 4th of July Party BBQ and game. We have two
games, one at 1:00 PM and another at 6:00 PM (Swiss Pairs). We will also
have a separate 199er Section for all those players that have between 0 and
199 masterpoints.
Good luck to all the players in Las Vegas. The Ontario Bridge Week Regional
is next week, June 29th through July 5th.
Monday night is our Jackpot IMP night. Sunday night is Swiss Pairs at 6:00
PM.
Saturday, July 17th at 6:30 is our July Birthday/Awards game. Dinner is at
5:30 pm and game time is 6:30. All those with Birthdays in July are invited
to play for just $1, the cost of the North American Pair qualifying sanction
fee.
