Hi Everyone,
 
Thanks again for your support during the Adventures In Bridge Club overhaul
here in San Diego. If you have suggestions as how to improve even further,

There is a Barometer Party & Game on Wednesday, May 19th at 7:00 pm. We are
planning to have lots of snacks and beverages, as well as great hands for
this first Barometer game at Adventures in quite some time. This is a
stratified game, so will be open to all and masterpoints will be awarded in
all Strats. Please plan on attending.
 
Saturday, May 22 is our May Birthday Party Game. All those with Birthdays in
May play for free. Game time is 6:30 PM with food and snacks at 5:30. 
 
Friday nights are our Wine & Cheese nights. Bring a dish to serve everyone
and receive two dollars off your entry. Food starts at 6:15 with game time
at 7:00 pm. All are welcome! As this game is growing, there is more food
than just wine and cheese. Everyone is really getting creative in the food
dishes they are bringing. Thanks!
 
Every Sunday evening we will have a Swiss Pairs game. This is a big hit in
Europe, so we thought we would give it a try here. We will be having the
kick-off game starting on Sunday, May 23. (No game on Sunday, May 30 as this
is the La Jolla Sectional). This is a Pair game, played like a Swiss Team
event. Each pair will play against another pair for 6 boards. The IMP
results are tabulated, then the top two pairs will play against one another
for the next six boards; and on down the line. We do this for two additional
matches - a total of 24 boards ; four 6-board matches. Masterpoint awards
are given for the overalls and match winners. For more information, please

Every Monday is our IMP Pairs night. This is a Pairs Game, scored by IMP's.
So instead of bonuses for extra tricks, you get bonuses for bidding games
and slams - and making them.
 
Tuesday nights are a Stratified Handicapped Pairs game.
 
We have another Inter-Club Championship game this month on Monday, May 24th
at Noon. We will be competing with several other clubs, nationwide, by
playing the same hands, and awarding lots of masterpoints to the winners.
Maritha Pottenger and Paul Flashenberg won last Tuesday's game - and the
hands were the best - many different results on each board. It was fun. 
 
We are starting our Mentor program with our kick-off game in June. Anyone
interested in playing as a mentor, or with a mentor, please sign-up at the
club. June will be Club Championship month, starting with a Club
Championship on Monday, Memorial Day, May 31st. We have pre-dealt hands and
will score over all sections for the Overalls. There will be the usual free
lunch prior to the game. 
 
We have Future Master games on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 10:00
am; Wednesdays at 12:00 Noon and 7:00 pm and a 0-49 game Monday night at
7:00 PM. These games are supervised games with a lesson starting 20 minutes
prior to the start of the game. Please encourage all non-life masters to
attend.
 
We will be closed Friday, Saturday & Sunday, May 29th, 30th and 31st for the
La Jolla Sectional. Please plan to attend the Sectional to get your Silver
Points. 
 
We have two new Easybridge! Classes starting on Tuesday, June 1st at Noon
and 7:00 PM. Please tell your non-bridge playing friends about these
classes. They are lots of fun for those involved. 
 
We have 4 Beginning Bridge classes starting the first week of June, also.
 
We have Intermediate, Play of the Hand, Conventions Classes and new Seminars
starting the week of June 7th.
